    Career U-turn

I have a very closed friend who was working in high-tech software development - specifically telecommunications. She moved towards IT project management role 3 years ago and now, working in IT project management for an I-bank. She doesnt enjoy the PM role anymore and would like to move back to software development by within banking. She is getting calls from headhunters but mostly being sough for PM roles. Headhunters were telling her that it would be tough to move back to software development. Anyone have the same experience? Or any advice would be appreciated..

Tough but not impossible as she needs to prove to headhunters and prospective employers that software development as opposed to Project Management is her forte.

Has she been keeping in touch with the latest software developments etc and also in contact with her old colleagues etc as both those will help in the return back to developing.

Try and bypass the headhunters if she can and speak to the people in her old software development arena for referrals and leads.

Headhunters are mostly useless when you try to switch fields.
