Thanks for advice ns, I'm currently debating as to what level of prior enquiries I should make, if any.

If you have any friends out here, sound them out especially if they work in your field. Also speak to a couple of HH's.

To the OP - If you have the contract and are just waiting for the visa, why not go to Bali/Thailand/Boracay/Australia/New Zealand or more while you wait? You won't have that long a holiday period until your next gardening leave...

Cheers for the info... I was actually thinking a trip back to the UK as I've been travelling round Asia/Africa for the last 8 months and living out of a backpack so picking up some more supplies wouldn't be a bad idea! Anyway, one step at a time, need to get the job first!

Brace4Impact, good advice from FTH, though if you do have friends out here I'd speak to them not long before you arrive. I made the mistake of speaking to a friend while I was still a few months from arriving and he passed my CV to his manager, but she wouldn't interview me as I wasn't in the country. That said, the more contacts you have out here the better really.

I'd definitely try contacting some headhunters prior to arrival, although most likely most will tell you wait til you're on the ground. Once you have a definite date for arrival they may be more inclined to assist you.

    Good luck!
