EU passport holder visa for HK

    Hello

If an EU passport holder gets 90 days in HK without a formal visa, can they just go to China for the day and then return?

Re-newing their second 90 day stay in HK.

Appreciate comments from those with experience regarding above.

    Cheers

In theory yes you can probably go in and out a couple of times. However, if immigration suspect you may be working illegally they may restrict the length of time they let you back in for and say it is the last entry you'll get. (this happened to a poster on here recently)

And remember you will need to buy a visa to enter China.

If you go to Macau, there is no charge for the visa, but you have to pay around HK$140 each way on the ferry. Same rules as above apply if immigration suspect that you are working illegally.

Not all EU passports are the same. The brits get extra days here when they land (180 vs 90) for a visitor pass but get charged extra if they want to go into China.

The Germans and the Irish can get working holiday visas for Hong Kong, and that's it for EU passport holders.

Some country passport holders can get a limited visa on arrival for the Shenzhen SEZ. Check what arrangements are in place for your country as they are not universal for just "the EU".
