How much for an excellent C# dev?

    Hi all,

I've had an opportunity to move my contract to HK, but there appears to be a large difference in the rates quoted by my agent (UK, with an HK subsidiary) and the company I'm contracted to (one of the largest banks in the world).

How much should a very experienced developer get (10 years, C++, now C# for a range of top tier banks, all the usual skills...)?

    Thanks!

agent usually lie in your face and the client; since the cost comes from the company/client, it doesn't take much effort to figure out whose statement is more trust worthy.

i don't know how much a programmer get paid in HK though, better ask or search for IT job site in HK.

It's a bit shaky because most finance development is done out of London, you might get some China targeted projects so you could get paid flat with your colleagues. Bank offices hate talking to other offices though and that's why there is some internal development everywhere. You need the demand for the skills, it's quite popular here to gallop as fast as possible out of development as I think there is little understanding of the difference between developer and code monkey.

Citi recently finished a big C# project in HK, it won some awards and got some press in the media.
