work permit for freelance in Hong Kong

    Hi there,

My husband (German) will be delegated in Hong Kong from May 2006. As his wife, I certainly will accompany him there and would like to work in Hong Kong as freelance.

I am originally from China and living since 5 years in Germany. I will be very appreciative for any information from you: how can I get a work permit for freelance in Hong Kong?

Thanks a lot in advance and best greetings from Germany

    Meilin

What sort of freelance work do you have in mind?

And do you carry a Chinese passport or a German one (there are different visa rules for mainland Chinese)

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your reply!

I am PRC ordinary passport holder and do not have permanent residence for Germany yet. But I have been living in Germany for over 5 years.

    Best regards

work permit for freelance in Hong Kong

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your reply!

I would like to work as translator or interpreter. Maybe this information is interesting for you: I have studied German language in PRC for three years and have finished the second study in business administration in Germany.

I am PRC ordinary passport holder and do not have permanent residence for Germany yet. But I have been living in Germany for over 5 years. Since my husband will work in Hong Kong for three year, we are sure, that I can also get a residence permit.

But is a crucial question for me: how can I get a work permit?

    Best regards

    Meilin

    Find an employer?

If you are married you are entitled to a dependent visa. About 3 years ago, the dependents were permitted to work, legally. Not anymore.
