Hello,

I'm a qualified Chartered Accountant in Sydney with 3 years experience working for a Big Four firm, in Financial Services external audit. In the last 12 months, I have been working in Product Control for a local Big Four bank.

I have always wanted to work in HK and wanted to get a feel of the job market before making a decision (resigning here and moving to HK to find a role).

I will be visiting HK next month and will be meeting with a few recruiters to discuss my CV, the market and any potential opportunities. I am fluent in English and Cantonese.

I was born in HK and moved to Australia at a young age, but have not applied for a HKID yet. I will be putting in a formal application for HKID (ROA) during my visit.

I have searched for roles in Product Control (PC) and Internal Audit (IA) on jobsdb and efinancial, and whilst a lot of roles are currently active, most of the PC and IA roles require 4-5 years of relevant experience within an IB environment. This is when I realise I have not ticked all the boxes per the job description.

I suppose this is something I will need to look into when meeting recruiters, i.e. if I'm too inexperienced for these roles, and if so, reprioritise my goals accordingly.

I am not targeting the IBs per se, but most of the results that come up are all IBs, whether it be international/global or a European IB. Whilst I haven't had direct IA exposure in an IB, I do have extensive external audit experience in auditing investment banks, retail bank, investment fund managers and insurance firms.

Any advice or feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!!
