    Change of status

    Hi,

My company has already submitted a working visa application two weeks ago. I know it takes about four weeks to process but am wondering if it's possible to go to Hong Kong as a tourist (and no, not going to work officially yet) and change my status once I get the work visa? Some countries require the person to have the work visa stamped on the passport in an embassy/consulate. Will immigration let you know the status of the application after two weeks?

    Thanks,
    JC

I think it depends what nationality of passport you are coming in under.

Best to check HK immigration site:

    http://www.immd.gov.hk/index.html

I know for Australians, and many other passports, you can generally enter as a tourist, then take a trip to Shenzen (i.e. leave HK) and then re-enter under your employment visa (once you have it in your hot little hand). This is what I have heard, and plan to do myself shortly.

Though if anyone has other information, it would be useful to know.

Also, I've heard it takes 4-6 weeks to get it issued.
