I am planning to travel to Hong Kong, and heard of a place called Mongkok, a big shopping area. I have no clue on how to get there and how much it would cost me. Can some one advise?
Thanks in advance

Catch the MTR
Seriously, just jump on the MTR (train) and you will see the markets and signs as soon as you get off at Mongkok station. There are plenty of free maps available to get around also.
all you need to go in mongkok:
- sai yueng choi street
- ladies street
- fa yuen street
and maybe other areas near these streets...
When i land at Hong Kongs airport do i get myself a taxi and just ask him to take me to Mongkok or as mentioned erlier i could get a train, as seriously guys i dont have a clue, lol. I am originally traveling to Thailand and thought that 3 days in Hong Kong will give me a nice break from Thailand, but i will still be attending clubs and bars in Hong Kong so any advice will be more than welcome.
YMCA looks very interesting, i take it its very close to mongkok area, and whats network price, is it the price when you book online?
What hotel would be best, if i wanted to be in the heart of all the action in Hong Kong?

Okay, you're asking big questions there - more than just 'how do I get to Mongkok?' or 'where is Mongkok?'
I don't know where you're coming from, but I'd suggest you head down to a local library or 2nd-hand book store and get yourself a Hong Kong guidebook. It's not a hard place to find your way around, as long as you pay attention, but it is a very intense and crowded place - particularly Mongkok, as it happens - and you may find yourself getting overwhelmed if you come without a bit more planning.
To answer your direct question, getting a cab from the airport isn't a great idea - you can either get the airport train (the Airport Express), or a bus. You could get the train to Kowloon Station and get a cab from there, which would be cheaper and quicker than getting a cab from the airport, or go all the way to Hong Kong Station and use the MTR (underground, tube, metro, etc.) to get to Mongkok from there. Apparently the number 21 bus does the Airport->Mongkok route.
But please don't take my advice on getting into town - please get hold of a guide book and work out how Hong Kong is laid out - you'll have a much better experience here if you do.
Oh, and I think it's pretty common for people from Hong Kong to go to Thailand for a break, just so you know![]()
Im coming from Thailand to Hong Kong for a breakfor 3 days, just wanted to see what its like. I think i will book YMCA hotel and take it from there, i am not exactly going to Hong Kong to visit tourist atractions, just to walk about, sit at a bar, and have late dinner
Maybe mongkok should be avoided for the first time, but i like crowded places.
