have you really thought this through? do you have any idea how many people cross the border during this period? hundreds of thousands, at the very least...it is the last thing in the world i'd be wanting to do! immigration crossing is literally and all day affair!

as for whether or not the shops are open, i have no idea.

Very bad idea, most restaurants and supermarkets will be closed for a few days too. Make sure you stock up at home.
