It's the old Lane Crawford
I passed the store today, and people were still lined up to get into the store. I don't know why they were not allowed to just go inside and shop . It has already been opened on 10th.
I just wanted to take a look inside, but dint want to stand in the queue, so I just dint go. I am in no hurry.
Must get out that way more often. Efforts to find out if it was a joint venture with Lane Crawford proved fruitless.
But Colliers did have this from Oct 06...
Sources of leasing demand
Lured by the continued influx of inbound visitors and the
buoyant consumption sentiment, a number of retailers who
are new to Hong Kong have been bold enough to commit
new spaces for setting up their foothold in the territory. For
example, Hennes & Mauritz (H&M), a worldwide fashion store
originating from Sweden, decided to open its outlets in Hong
Kong. H&M pre-committed to lease two premises located at
Lane Crawford House in Central and at Elements, a brand
new shopping centre at Airport Railway Kowloon Station and
scheduled to open in late 2007.
I had not heard of the Elements shopping ctr before.

Shock troops of shopping Usually, opening parties include champagne, canapes and a lot of people standing around. Swedish retail behemoth H&M's launch on Thursday had four floors of guests rushing merchandise. That's because a 20 per cent discount was offered to everyone and, trust me, people were going nuts. In fact, with so many people carrying armfuls of their spring and summer collection, the biggest complaint against the store that evening was: "Where are the shopping baskets?"
Among industry insiders present, the talk turned to who will be hit hardest by the new kid on the block. The early vote was Zara, but it was agreed the likes of Giordano, Bossini and U2 would be hurt too. Of course, H&M's main drawcard is the M By Madonna collection (on sale here two weeks before the rest of the world) and a lot of it was being snapped up.
However, we're not sure if people were buying because they really liked the clothes or were taking advantage of the two-week window to eBay it?
I agree with the previous thread regarding H&M's quality. That's why I am sticking with Zara and local boutiques.
