    Tonkatsu sauce

Anyone know where to find tonkatsu sauce, also apparently known as 'pork chop sauce' when I ask in restaurants?

Japanese name their sauces after the food they are for, so "pork chop sauce" is the translation of "ton katsu sorsu", in Cantonese it would be "jyu paah jap".

There's one made by Bulldog, you have to look for the Japanese name: "とんかつ ソース"

    Citysuper has the bulldog brand.

Also not difficult to make, especially if you need a large qty :
    1 cup catsup
    1/2 cup worchershire
    1/2 cup sake
    2 tablespoons ginger
    2 tablespoons garlic
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/4 cup mirin
Bring to a boil over medium heat stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes skimming any foam that rises to the top.

If you make the sauce yourself, make sure to use Japanese worster sauce, not the western kind. Totally different tastes... Bulldog makes a good worster sauce as well. Both the Bulldog worster and tonkatsu are available at Jusco supermarkets.
