    Buy UK Electricals Online

Hi. Does anyone know a website in the UK that sells electricals (like kitchen appliances) and delivers to HK? I want to get some new bits but either they're hard to find or too expensive in HK.

When I wanted a Vitamix blender I found that Citysuper only had the white version and it was very expensive. I was able to get the stainless steel version from Harrods.com who deliver here, and the VAT refund (automatically applied at checkout) more than covered the shipping cost. Unfortunately they don't have a lot of the things I want!

Thanks for any tips you have!

Sometimes i found that If you go to the company's web site of the product that you want, they will have a list of retailers or distributors in HK. Everything it Citysuper is expensive. They do that because they know you want it...but then even things like local milk is 15-20% more than a normal supermarket.

why don't you write or call vitamix distributors based in sheung wan, 36 connaught rd west to see if you buy directly from them ( assuming it's cheaper, if the price is the same, then i gather you find other ways as few uk company will deliver to hk plus the fact uk postal/international signed for is pretty pricey)?

@packy_crusher It's really more that I want to order things online, and that doesn't seem that popular in HK. I want to be able to browse and order... not have to browse/research, then chase the suppliers here in HK (and pay more for the privilege)

@PMimparanoic I already bought the Vitamix from harrods.com and had it delivered. It was cheaper to do this than to buy it in HK, and I also had the choice of many models whereas in HK there was only one model available. There's much more choice if I can order from the UK and since you get the VAT back from sellers who ship outside the EU it actually offsets the price of the postage to HK.

    Thanks for your replies though!

I'm looking for ANY retailers in the UK or Ireland (the right plug) that ship to HK (where I don't pay the VAT) so I can browse for kitchen appliances, other electronic items, etc. Anyone used anywhere good?

    Cheers!

Most HKG importers are happy to sell directly to the public.

I found some beers that I really enjoyed in City Super and Olivers; tracked down the importer and now I buy directly. Only requirement is that I buy a couple of cases at a time and if I buy a minimum of $500 free delivery is thrown in.

Hi - and thanks for your replies.

I think maybe I've confused you though. I already bought the Vitamix (from the UK) and don't need to contact the importer. If I knew what other items/models I wanted to buy then of course I could contact the relevant importer here, but it's more that I want to BROWSE online, then buy. Things in the UK are cheaper than in HK and there is much more variety to choose from. Also, when ordering from the UK I'd save the VAT and this would offset the cost of delivery. This was certainly the case with the Vitamix.

So, I'm looking for websites in the UK or Ireland that sell electricals (kitchen and otherwise) and ship to HK. Anyone used anything other than harrods.com?

    Thanks!

PS: Someone tells me John Lewis ship wedding list items, but they don't do international shipping on their normal wesbite

Amazon would be the obvious answer

    Hi brownae2,

John Lewis Oxford Street has an export department, so if you purchase goods through them they will be able to help you. Call them on (0044) 20 3073 0624 or email them at [email protected]

I haven't used this service myself so I cannot provide any customer experience feedback.

You could use a service like Borderlinx. However, with something like that you won't save on VAT.
