    CHAR SIU Chinese BBQ pork

    pork tenderloin
    1 tsp salt
    2 tsp sugar
    2 tsp brown sugar
    2 tsp dark soy sauce
    2 TBSP char siu sauce
1TBSP honey/ maltose (found in wellcome with the honey)

mix all ingredients above and marinate pork for at least 1 hour.

    pre-heat HO for 3 minutes on 250C.

    on low rack, place pork.

cook on max (250C) for 10 minutes, turn and cook a further 5 minutes.

(we found that we wanted to use the marinade on the pork, so once cooked, i added more marinade and put it back in for about 3-5 minutes until meat started to "blacken" a little... just how i like it!)

    very, very yummy!

siu yuk/siu lam tsai----chinese roast pork
    VERY, VERY simple recipe...

    pork belly slab with skin
sea salt (enough to rub belly---pork belly, not yours! )

    (1) rub salt evenly over pork. let sit for 2 hours.

(2)scald the belly slab in boiling water for 20-30 seconds. pat dry

    (3) pierce lots of holes into the skin. the more holes you poke, the crispier the skin (true... at least it was for us).

(4)place meat on lower rack, skin down for 15 minutes on 250C.

    (5) turn and cook skin up for another 10-30 minutes (depending on size of pork belly).

    (6) remove, slice into 1" thick strips, then slice each strip into 1/2" pieces.

    serve with hot mustard.

This cookery course is getting me drooling.
I so wish I had room for an oven, boo hoo. No room for even a table top model.
Never mind, back home for a holiday soon where probably every meal will be roasted, baked or grilled.
keep the recipes coming, I'm making notes.

    Very tempting.
We maybe staying here another year so would get plenty of use out of it.
Sorry to bombard you with questions, but.
Is that the model/size you are using?
Can it take a whole chicken?
I might have to go and see one somewhere to get a look at it's physical size. I might have a problem with storage when not in use. We have a very small apartment. Where will have one in stock?
    Cheers.

we bought ours at sincere $1242. yes, it could probably even fit a small turkey (if you use the provided "extender ring")

our machine is about 14" across. i have it on the dining table and move it to the side of the table when we eat. and yes, it is the same as the one in the photo.

I saw a few models at Pricerite the other day, prices ranging from $1300-2200 depending on model (all were 12L size though, why the huge price difference I wonder?)

ah I just noticed in the link you posted, the grey tab says: HK retail price: $1380
but under specifications it says: price HK: 2050

I'll probably get one of these soon, i'm tired of eating out all the time.
