I had the worst experience with this place. Ordered my custom designed dress in December 2012 for an August 2013 Wedding. They made a lot of promises so I was initially happy and the showroom looked nice! They wanted payment in full by March 2013, when the dress was not even ready...which was fine as I thought I could trust them. The owners are new with relatively little experience in the industry.

When it was time for my second fitting (April 2013)...it was a terrible fit and so many things were wrong with the dress...but they assured me they would fix it all. On the final fitting (July 2013), they completely ruined the dress. The zip was uneven, lace was damaged and cut with scissors, the dress had water marks over it where they attempted to clean dirt marks, the workmanship was poor - their tailors were not very good, they could never get the fit correct and left blue pen marks over my white dress. They had 7 months to make my dress and could not deliver! When trying on the final dress, the owner was trying to persuade me it looked fine and was trying to rush me out with the dress. Luckily I had my ipad and took photos from every angle..I kept the photos of the bad job as proof!

For brides who want an honest review...I recommend going to a bridal shop that has more experience with better quality tailors. This place left me in tears and without a dress 2 weeks before my wedding (they gave me a partial refund as an unhappy customer and would not offer a full refund) - an experience a bride should never have to go through.

Luckily I found another shop that made me a new dress in 5 days! The new shop even told me that the material of the old dress was not 100% silk, which I specifically asked for and paid more for...Akola basically lied about the material and charged me a fortune!

I would not recommend anyone going to Akola Bridal
I would like to ask you which shop u ended up to? Thx

    Hi Liliana,
I ended up going to Chinoiserie in Western Market, Sheung Wan. Had visited about 8 other places who said they couldn't make a new dress in such a short time, but these guys were amazing and created exactly what I wanted. Quality of the new dress was excellent too.

Grunt...FYI...when I was searching for dress shops in HK last year...I came across this post, so this is how I first heard of Akola Bridal. So in answer to your question...I have done this so that other brides don't make the same mistake I did. It's simply sharing my experience with that shop. If I had read my review last year...I would not have chosen them...wedding dress shopping can be stressful and honest reviews of bridal shops are helpful. As to why I left it 6 months after my wedding to review it...well I do have a job and a life so I have been too busy!

Sorry to hear that. And i agree Akola sucks. I think their factory is in China and the quality is not that good. Hope other brides notice this too.
