Places that sell Guitars (for beginners)

I did a search on this but the posts are quite old so I figure to give this another shot. I went to the big Tom Lee in TST on Sunday but I found it very hard to shop as they were frankly too many people. Bascially, I want to buy a good acoustic guitar to learn from, but I would spend a little extra for quality. I'm looking for a store that will spend a little more time explaining the difference for me so I can make a more informed decision. Thanks!

Try Parsons Music in Times Square. I bought myself my first steel string acoustic guitar from there. Costs about HK$800, brand is Toyama.. Good sound for it's price. The staff there should be able to help you and there's definitely less people.

Another thumbs up from me for Parsons in Times Square.

I had money in my pocket, my kid next to me and ready to spend about $1000 on Tom Lee in CWB. Walked in and was ignored by staff and when I finally found someone to talk to, the guy knew less than me about guitars (which is pretty much nothing) and was unable to help at all. We left very disappointed and walked straight to Times Square.

Staff at Parsons were happy to help, knowledgeable and we walked away happily with an inexpensive starter guitar...

I think Tom Lee can be like that.

When I bought my guitar at Yuen Long they spent a lot of time with me and taught me a lot about guitars even though I was after a cheapy! They were passionate.

At Tuen Mun I wanted a keyboard and I knew more than the salesman (next to nowt!)....The thing is, he admitted and suggested another store who has an in house keyboard guy!

I think it all depends on the time and the location. If you know your stuff, Tom Lee would be a good place (the only place I know) to find a good selection of musical instruments.
