    Bluenile ring purchase experience

    I'm looking to buy a platinum engagement ring from bluenile, but the reviews I found on the internet are not that positive especially with their platinum products.

    Did you buy your jewelries from bluenile and would you buy from them again? And is the best place for me to buy a simple and affordable platinum ring setting and have it set?

    So far I've only looked at platinum wedding bands in a few stores in Kowloon Bay but the platinum selections aren't that great, not to mention a bit expensive.

    Thanks!

    If you compare prices you wont buy local !

    I bought two rings on bluenile one was a size too small. I sent it back to them. 10 days later i had a new one with free shipping/insurance/engravement.

    I have had similar experiences with Beuze as well in terms of returns. Amazing service for returns and re-ordering.

    Also if you scope around the interwebs there are often discount codes available.

    Just my two cent's worth - wherever you buy your diamonds from, you can have them verified on site at IGI in TST. I bought a very unusual gem not from Blue Nile and was concerned about the authenticity. I think I paid 300 or 400 dollars for the IGI inspection and it was worth the peace of mind.

    I used Bluenile and they are great. Their selection is larger and prices are so much lower than HK jewelers. Most of their diamonds are GIA certified and if you don't like what comes in the mail, they have a 30 day money back guarantee which is unbeatable. As you know in HK, there is not even a 30 second guarantee once you buy something. Not sure if it means anything but Bluenile is a publicly listed company in the US, so they have lots of downside if their quality is not up to par.

    Thanks for the comments guys!

    The main reason I looked at bluenile as opposed to local retail is because of their selection and their price. I have been learning how to pick diamonds for about 3 weeks, visiting forums, local stores, etc... While I was doing that, I found some negative stuff about bluenile;

    It seems the majority of people who have a problem with Bluenile are the ones who bought platinum rings. Since I'm planning to get a platinum ring also, I'm leaning toward buying local instead.

    I thought about just getting a loose diamond since I did manage to find one with decent specs, but a lot of people recommended getting the setter along with the loose diamond to avoid the diamond being chipped, but I'm worried about the quality of 950 platinum rings from bluenile, so I'm still weighing my options...

    FYI I got the rock loose from Blue Nile and then got it set in HK.

    Seems to be fine, and the main thing is the missus is happy with the end product.
