    HK markets

    Hi guys!

I'm looking at setting up my own business selling health and beauty products. All in the pipeline at the moment and just doing research I'm hoping you could help with. All products are natural and eco friendly.

Are there many markets in HK? I mean markets with a set up like Island East Markets or the Sai Kung markets aimed more at expats (rather than everyday ones like ladies market or wan chai market).

I'm just trying to understand where I could market my products aside from the obvious things like websites, social networking etc.

    Thanks in advance!

I've gone shopping at the East Island Market and at a pop up shop that was at The Space on Hollywood Rd. Sorry, I don't have any more information about other markets. But I want to just say that there are already a handful of people selling products like that at these markets, and I actually don't buy them even though I believe in using more eco-friendly, natural products (and supporting more local businesses).... I don't buy them because they are simply too expensive -- usually $60+ for a simple bar of soap that goes quickly in the shower. So, my point is, if you're thinking about this business, I'd be thrilled if you could offer products like that BUT at cheaper prices than the people already selling these kinds of products. Also, most of them wouldn't offer me any sort of discount or offer if I bought in bulk (like 3+ bars). Keep in mind that all the organic/natural food stores dotted around HK are selling good lines of eco-friendly products, and they tend to have better prices than markets.
One time I found someone selling homemade raw almond butter, and it was only $30 and delicious... more of these kinds of sellers would be great!

Sounds like my products would be cheaper and I also offer discounts for multiple products bought at once as well as repeat customers thanks for your help!

There is a regular monthly market at DB and it's sister market at Cyberport. I can't recall the name but ask any one from those areas and they will know which ones. They are aimed at expats.

You will find that is the situation with most markets in Hong Kong. Spaces are very competitive and many are booked up for the year. It may take a few months to get a spot.
