    Ground Beef

is there anywhere to get normal priced ground beef?

i dont like park and shop beef, as many times it tastes funny..or has hard wierd pieces in it.

i tried city super...but the cheapest ground beef i could find was like HKD 500 for 2 pounds of beef. are you kidding me???? i used to pay 3 bucks a pound back in the states...it cant be that much more expensive here...can it???

My local Wellcome (Robinson Road) has Australian ground beef which I have always found to be fine. I can't remember the price off the top of my head. It was certainly a lot more than HK$25/lb though, perhaps around HK$100/lb. Any meat imported from anywhere other than Guangdong is going to be expensive given the costs of air freight.

Agree with PDLM's remark about the expense of imported beef, which will increase with the ever-rising cost of cattle feed and aviation fuel.

The alternative is to buy cheaper cuts of beef and mince it yourself; then, at least, you can be sure of what's in it.

Have you seen any beef cows anywhere in Asia?
And, given the corn/ethanol fiascoin the US, I bet ground beef prices are up there, too.
Our International PnS now has Aussie ground beef and it has always carried Brazilian beef.

I think you mean water buffaloes, not yaks. You can certainly get carabao (a breed of buffalo) meat in The Philippines, but I've never really looked for it in HK...
