Chocolate quality at Taste, Wellcome, etc

Is it just me, or is it difficult to buy chocolate in Hong Kong's supermarkets (Taste, Wellcome) etc that has not been in a hot truck or whatever caused it to half melt?

I've been buying chocolate or chocolate coated cookies in the same Taste for the past 10 years. Only once in a while. But I'd say there is a 50:50 chance that I will regret...

Just eating some Merci chocolates and they have their wrapping melted onto them.

Edit: or do they turn off their air con at night to save electricity?

I think this is true for most products in the duopoly supermarkets. They tend to think consumers don't have a choice so they don't need to worry. I have never seen so many dented tins on sale anywhere else.

Heat affected chocolate and dented tins I can live with. It's the half thawed 'frozen' meat and warm milk that bothers me.

Also check where they're from too.

    Australian cadburys is disgusting.

I get my chocolate from city super, not cheap but the quality is there and never had bad chocolate.

Thankfully I'm in UK at present but heading back to HK in 3 weeks so will be stocking up.

Back in the dark ages, a certain supermarket chain (well, at least the branch near where I lived) would turn off the freezers overnight to save money.

So turn off the air-conditioning? Possible.

Might also be sitting in the hot sun when they're moving goods in to the shops.

I've bought a packet of chocolate covered digestives that were all melted into one large log when I opened it.
