I have provided links below. BTW Grand Central Plaza Shatin, is actually Phase IV ( 4 ) of the Newtown plaza..

I have to agree with you about Grand Central Plaza.

Was there yesterday which was my first time since the revamp ( which is still ony about 60% complete ) and an amazing transformation from the old style furniture shops that where there before.

Ulferts is a good visit if you want to be amazed at what they try to charge for furniture. Even in their present " only pay 30% of the ticket price " promotion its still expensive. But luckily its competition is more circumspect.

For some REALLY nice German silver and glass there is Impressions, who have smaller outlets in Wanchai and Kowloon Bay. I challenge anyone not to be " impressed " buy the full range at Shatin.

I think that if they finish the refurb by CNY then its going to be THE PLACE to go for furniture and much easier to get to than that " oasis of taste " Mega Box.

I went to Grand Central Plaza on the weekend but most on offer is up-market or designer stuff. The ground floor seems to cater mostly for decoration rather than furniture while the upper floors are taken up by IKEA (5th currently closed for renovation). Still, lot's of shops on the 2nd floor and worth a visit, even it's just window-shopping.

Ended up buying some stuff from Jusco, they had a sale for members on Sunday (10% off for furniture) so I quickly signed up and ordered a matching display cabinet and shoerack from there.

Came across this shop: sofasogood in a basement between exit D3 and D4 of Kwun Tong MTR station has lots of sofas on more than 10.000 sqf of showroom (so they claim).
They also offer some TV cabinets and dining sets, but more impressive are the coffee tables. They are mostly made from glass and in all kind of shapes and not too expensive from what I remember.

I finally got my TV cabinet from a small shop in Hang Hau, they modified an existing design to match the dimensions that I require. It actually comes with a coffee table that slides out of the rack / into the rack when needed. Pretty neat idea IMO since I don't have much space between my sofa and the TV cabinet. And it's cheaper than a completely custom build unit.

Update: I should add that this is one of those "you get what you pay for" jobs, the workmanship is poor and the installation team broke the glass plate of the coffee table during delivery. The first replacement didn't fit, so they had to provide a 2nd one - though this was done for free I had to go and pick it up from the shop each time. Also bought a kitchen table with chairs from the shop and there is some glue residue on the glass top that I haven't managed to remove.

    Not recommended therefore.
