Interesting side note, I was searching for Converse 'compatibles' on Taobao. You can only find originals, for a matching price at around rmb 3-400.
I don't want originals, or obvious fakes. So I went for the 'All Star' lookalike brand for still affordable RMB 28. No Converse name or logo on the page.
What I got were Converse (fakes) in a converse carton.
Conclusion: counterfeits still exists, but the web platforms (even the 100% Chinese ones) seem to crack down on counterfeits.

This.
Is that Amazons attempt at copying Alibaba's business model? Selling more counterfeits?
Wallstreet seems to be praising Alibaba as the better Amazon every chance it gets.
