    Cooling boxes needed, fridge broken

Ha, just filled my fridge and freezer yesterday with stuff just to find out at night it's broken.

Freezer holding steadily at -10, but fridge at +20 :/ I have some idea what the problem could be (called warranty service as well), but in the meantime need some temporary Styrofoam boxes or similar to keep stuff for a few hours during maintenance etc - I will also shift some of the more expensive stuff to the neighbors. I just bought some large pieces of smoked ham and cheese and same day my fridge breaks down :/

Does anybody know where to get them boxes? I've seen the local markets use them for seafood, but never came across a shop selling them as far as I know. Any other suggestions?

Fill the sink / bathtub with ice bags from 7-11, add some water and put the perishables in ziplock / plastic bags and put them in the water? Not sure if you'll get -10, but should be cold enough to prevent defrosting?

I see these boxes being used religiously every day by the fish vendors in our area, no clue where they buy them from or how they dispose of them.

I see these boxes (dirty ones) all the time outside the stairs of our local market. Should try to find somebody and ask, or just steal them all ;-) Heading out to buy ice in the meantime. I just had the same thought.

I think adding salt to the ice will cool it further.

You can get plenty of those white boxes in the wet market - and while there - ask where to buy ice. It's in the wet market way cheaper then in 7Eleven.

OK, got my food in a styrofoam box from the local wet market ($4) including 8kg of ice from Circle K, and my 2400W air blower/heater that keeps me warm during winter pointed at the frozen coil in the back of the freezer unit (removed the back cover).

Keeping my fingers crossed. If it doesn't work, I'll have to eat a kilo (or two) of cheese and ham tonight with my neighbors

Hi! I also need to buy three of the same style boxes. Can I ask which wet market you went to and how easy it was to communicate with them what you wanted?
Btw, were they new or used? At this stage, I'd be happy with either!!

You need to get to the back of the wet market where you will find those Styrofoam boxes and try to buy it off the old ladies, they are all used and should cost $10 only per piece. Just point and show $10 notes at the old ladies, no need to communicate as they wont know English.

Just leave it in the freezer and DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR. Freezer will stay cold for days.
