Other than the environmental impact of the plastics that fruit and veggies are packed in. I have found that when buying in the bulk packs of 3 or 4 I always end up with one piece that is rotten. I have had to return countless apples, oranges, peppers, etc because after I got them home I could not use them. I always try to check before I leave the store, but most times just looking through the plastic is not enough.

Despite using Apple Pay my receipts are Chinese again. Must have been a coincidence...

Went home late the other night and needed some veggies. Wet market was closed so PnS was the only option. Got a foo qua which wasn't wrapped in plastic so there's no bar code for the cashier to scan. She started punching in the code into the cash register but didn't remember the exact number, had to stop and look in her code reference book which held up the queue. She couldn't find the page and eventually gave up and just yelled out to another cashier for the code.

I understand why other places like AEON wrap ALL their vegetables in plastic so the checkout/self-checkout is quick and efficient, but for most veggies, couldn't supermarkets wrap them in paper/wax paper instead with a bunch of small holes (so customers can see what the item is and its condition) properly labelled for that quick checkout?

I don't think Hong Kong has gutter oil.

I would much prefer getting a large plastic bag from the wet market that holds all my purchases and then I re-use as a garbage bin liner than a plastic clamshell type container that contains more plastic material and cannot be re-used at all. these plastic clamshells just disguise rotting produce and force bulk purchasing - both to fill park&robs pockets more - with no regard for the environment.
