    Looking for a good coffee grinder made in western Europe

    Hi all,

    Where can I buy a conical burr type coffee grinder, made in Italy or countries in western Europe. The grinder is for home use but I have no pre-set budget.

    I'm now using a Saeco conical burr grinder built into a semi-automatic coffee machine which was made in Italy. I have been using it for more than 15 years long before Saeco was acquired by Philips. The machine including the grinder is still working strong. However there is a problem on the steam shut-off valve. I have to holding it firmly when brewing coffee otherwise water/steam will leak out. It is time for me to look for a replacement for both coffee grinder and coffee machine.

    I have been looking;
    Eureka Mignon MK11
    coffeelab.com.hk
    Address: 13/F, Philip House, No.5 Kimberley Street, T.S.T., Kowloon

    It seems to me NOT a shop.

    Re shopping for coffee machine it is really a headache to me. All semi-automatic coffee machines are made in China or countries in eastern Europe. To purchase a full automatic coffee machine for home use is a waste and the maintenance cost is quite expensive.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards

    Have you looked at amazon.co.uk? I recently bought a Jura (full automatic) which turned out 40% cheaper than buying in HK, even with shipping costs. Price shown on Amazon will be less VAT once placed in basket choosing shipping address in HK.

    Sign up for the Hofex exhibition which ends Thursday (tomorrow!). Maybe you can manage to buy a grinder there cheap. You will see lots of coffee porn there (hot Marzosso models!)

    Otherwise I agree on the selfimport, it's usually cheaper and you have a much wider selection.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your advice.

    I'm aware that the online products sold is much cheaper than Hong Kong because the rental is very expensive here. VAT will be exempted because the machine is exported not being used in UK.

    What I'm most concerned is the after-sales service. In case of problem I have to sending the product back to UK for replacement or repair in the guarantee period. Although in the guarantee period the transportation cost, 2-ways, will be paid by the seller and the problem rarely happens.

    Last year I purchased an Anova Precision Cooker from USA. It is working strong without problem.

    Anyway I'll check. Thanks

    Any suggestion on coffee machine. I'm interested in Gaggia 12300 Baby Class;
    cnet.com/products/gaggia-baby-class-coffee-machine-with-cappuccinatore-15-bar-brushed-stainless-steel/specs/

    Most Gaggia coffee machines available here are made in China. I found them in Shanghai Street, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon. But I didn't find this model there.

    Any recommendation. Thanks

    Hi,

    Thanks for your information;
    hofex.com/zh-hant/

    I'll rush there. I may not purchase a machine on spot. I have no idea of its price. Sometimes the products sold in the Show is more expensive than outside. At least I'll find the connection of the seller/manufacturer for later contact.

    Hi,

    It is the eastern side of Europe formerly under the control of Soviet Union (now Russia)

    The countries in eastern Europe includes Poland, Slovakia, Hungary etc. The labour cost there is much cheaper than western Europe because they are under developing countries,

    Italian Coffee Grinder (made in China)...

    We recently bought a deLonghi coffee grinder at Wing On in Central/Sheung Wan.
    It works on the basis of time: the longer you grind, the finer the coffee, with lights that come on to show how long/how fine.

    It's OK, and you can grind other things with it e.g. cardamom pods.

    You can see the details at https://www.wingonet.com/products/de...1/pcategory:32

    Haven't checked any since I just moved over to HK last month but back in Australia, Mazzer was a popular choice amongst enthusiasts
