If I were to go vegetarian, I'd probably eat Chinese Buddhist cuisine, they have substitutes for meat made with real foods (mostly soy based products) but you need to have acquired a taste for local/Chinese food.

Huh, I personally don't think that cat food smells all that bad...?

No idea what it tastes like, I hasten to add.

I really don't mind Chinese vegetarian at all. But am not into fake meats - whats the point. This thing is just a curiosity - does it actually taste any good / better than the usual potato / bean / falafel based "burger" which make no pretences.

A friend who is a Buddhist (by way of his wife) and follows a strict Buddhist diet cooks with seitan, which is wheat gluten. It's really quite good and if cooked properly and seasoned well hard to tell it's not meat.

Yes it actually tastes good. And I'm not a vegetarian or vegan.

Where can you buy this in HK? All the usual supermarkets?

    What's it called in Chinese?

Typical City Super, charging $78. What a rip off.

How much does this cost at Green Common? They're the importer, right?

Amazon has a container of 10 pegged at about HKD 400.
