If you're brave to order on Taobao there are plenty of trees available. Price is under 200Rmb for 1.8m. Delivery is 180Rmb with Sf express.

Real Spruce Pine trees? Must be hybrids! Looking at the reviews on some it's a mixed bag on what you get as a 2.4-2.6m tree is clearly just 2m in a photo and a 30cm "desktop" one is a cedar sapling.

Still compared to the HK prices it's worth a shot! As much as I like picking one in person out I'd rather save the $500~1000 and get another Turkey or a nice bottle of whiskey!

Just curious, where do these trees go after they are used? I suspect most are disposed of at the local dump. Seems such a waste and environmentally questionable behaviour. Far better if they plant it somewhere, in the country park or something.

You could always try and replant but real trees are more environmentally friendly than fake ones. Remember they produce O2 during their lifetimes and far less (even negative) carbon emissions in their growing:

More wasteful than nothing sure, but I think we've all earned it with the massive reduction in each of our carbon footprint this year with so little travel!

I suppose you could see it that way, I was referring though to the particular tree used. After its finish as a holiday tree, I rather see it replanted than get thrown into the trash heap. If someone is willing to go to the effort of getting a real tree, then getting it planted somewhere after use isn't really asking too much.

Except that they're non-indigenous to HK (AFCD would have a fit), maybe if you have a yard...

@Coolboy I believe the TB one comes in a pot with roots. So you can replant it for next year.
