Question Problem with soft contact lenses HELP!

I bought 2 weeks ago some soft contact lenses for the first time.
The optometrist made me try for 15 minutes some lenses for trying first.
It gegain to itch my eyes, I told the optometrist, and he told me that it was because I was not use to it.

We order the contact lenses for my sight, and then he tell me to comeback 2 weeks later.
I have been unable to wear them for more than four hours due to the burning sensation (even my face is hot!!)
After only 5 minutes, the burning sensation begin.

I just had the "2 weeks later check" and he advice me to rinse the lenses with saline solution and use tears during the day.
I tried today, and it's not different than the procedure I used before (opti-free solution all-in-one)

    Is it normal?
    What can I do?

    Thanks for your help!!

hmmm itch and burn - sounds like you are allergic to them.

Perhaps as your optician if they have options for people with allergies.

    Otherwise, stick with glasses...

Get zapped. (Laser surgery). I spent years playing with contacts and/or glasses and finally took the plunge. scariest thing I ever did - worth it though. The ability to see without having to hunt for glasses, clean them, hunt for and clean contacts etc etc is priceless.

I heard though that if u get LASIK you may (!) need to get it again after some years? Was thinking of getting it, did you get it done here in Hong Kong?

LASIK is good if your eyesight is already stable, if your eyesight is decreasing every year then the result is not as good and you might need to do it again after few years.

My sight is not stable and they are way too much side effect (blur, extreme dryness with the consequences, double vision...) to take any risk I think.

I perfer wearing my glasses than taking these longlife side effects!

From the research I did when I had it done (in NZ, about 4 years ago), less than 2% of people have any problems whatsoever. Of those 2% (of which I was actually one!) most can be fixed with a subsequent procedure. I think that the risks have been grossly over exaggerated (unless you get it done somewhere cheap without qualified people, obviously). Just think about the risks with contact lenses - my uncle, for example, lost most of the sight in one eye as a result of an infection caused by excessive wearing of contact lenses without cleaning them properly; glasses can shatter and end up with glass in your eye in an accident; probably about the same level of risk - just nobody thinks about those ones!

It's not possible with plastic ones

Severe dryness after surgery concern much more than 2% of the operated persons, and these people get easily abcess (yummy) quite often, the dryness can't be solved unless you use specific products all day long+ night!

    Clearly I over-estimated the risks at 2%:

From this []Considering LASIK Surgery? Read This - US News and World Report article:

According to the FDA, only about 1 percent of patients report worse vision and have permanent side effects like eye pain, dry eye, and poor night vision. (Lots of people experience temporary effects like dry eye, glare, and halos.)

"The American Association of Professional Eyecare Specialists (AAPECS) concluded in a recent study of LASIK surgery statistics that 55.3 percent of LASIK patients achieve visual acuity of 20/20 or better, while 92.6 percent of patients achieve vision of 20/40 or better. However, other sources contend that the national average of patients who achieve 20/20 vision or better after LASIK is closer to 85 percent."

Only 55 to 85% of people receive a proper correction with lasik!
If you have only a half correction and dry eyes with lasik, you paid and suffer for what?

You have your point of you, I have mine, now I need advice about contact lenses, not surgery!
