Best place to sell rare porcelain statue

Where is the best place to sell a rare hand painted porcelain statue? Online, in stores in a particular part of town? Sell it outright vs commission with an antique shop? Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks.

How rare is it? Rare as in no one wants it or rare as in people will really want it?

If its a case of a genuine antique / rare / has some value - some of the auction houses might be interested. Bonhams / Christies / Poly Auction etc...Don't really know if the antique shops like the ones on hollywood road have any traction right now...

If its a cae of no one wants it ... wherever and let the market decide.

Thanks. It's rare as in not many can be found completely intact(easy to break tiny fingers. most are missing some). It is greatly wanted by many from what I can tell. Never thought of an action house. I'll look into it thanks.

    Thumbs up

I would suggest that you take [& have printed] the statue, and tout the pix around to see who's interested & what price that they will put on it.

Certainly never "shove it under your arm" and wander around to see if anyone will offer you ca$h for it!

One small piece off the statue would, according to you, greatly reduce its value.

Better yet, get the buyer to pay you in Ca$h first after examination, and and only then authorise the buyer to pack it up (at THEIR RISK) and take it away after they have carefully examined it for "missing fingers" etc.

i.e. "Buyers regret will NOT be entertained".
