I had the same issue when I was about to make payment today. The cc I have been using can no longer be used now. So Alipay is the only paying option. It requires personal details to verify, right ? Never used Alipay as I don't feel safe to provide so much information for identification, but if I want to continue to use Taobao, I have no choice.

Just asking, you guys having any concern using Alipay?

Experiencing payment problems as well. Credit cards don't work, I've tried scanning the Alipay code on Alipay HK app, but no luck. How can we pay through Alipay HK instead of the mainland Alipay?

If I remember correctly, on the payment page there is a 外 something section, once clicked there is an Ali(something)HK option. Choosing that will generate the QR code.

I believe your Taobao ID must be somehow linked to AliPayHK. First time I ask a friend to pay for me and that didn't work.

    Mainland Alipay will not work!

    Something from the Ali FAQ:

How to switch AlipayHK account which is linked to Taobao account
Each Taobao account can only be linked to one AlipayHK account.
If you need to switch, please go to Taobao app and please tap 【我的淘寶】> 【設置】in the lower right corner of the Taobao mobile app > 【賬戶與安全】> 【支付寶賬號】> 【更換支付寶綁定】, and then follow the instructions on the page. If you cannot switch, it is recommended to use the more commonly used AlipayHK account to log in Taobao before shopping

Am not sure if I'm doing it correctly. I have both Alipay HK and China apps. Was told that you can only use Alipay HK with the Taobao App and you need to use China with the desktop. Anyway somehow have managed to bind my Account on Taobao. When I go the payment page I open the China app and click on the SCAN button the top left and scan the QR code and click submit.

I use desktop only (I believe there are only 8 desktop users left - some listings can only be seen in the app) and use AliPayHK.

I use desktop too. Can't read the app. However the $199 free shipping to HK promos only seem to be in the app. You can buy from multiple vendors with a total price is $199 they ship for free to the nearest pick up point.

Same problem here upon checkout. It's unbelieably frustrating! The same credit card will work one day then get rejected the next. I just keep trying trying to checkout and it'll work 1 out of 20 tries at random. Their payment technology is programmed by imbeciles. Don't bother calling their customers service either, you'll end up more frustrated.
