    Indian Grocery Shops

    Hello All,
I live in Tai Wo and wanted to know if there is an Indian grocery store close to me?

I am looking for Garam Masala for my butter chicken recipe. I was told the grocery store would be the best place to find it.

I can find the other spices in welcome etc but not Garam masala. I make this recipe from scratch so do not want to buy pre-made pastes or curry mixes as I am allergic to chilli and I find it is in most mixes.

If there are no stores close to me I am happy to travel as I go to central once a month at least, so will make a trip to a great store there that any of you recommend. I dont think I would buy online as it would only be one item once in a while. But maybe I will find lots of other items to buy, maybe they have bread?

Thank you all for your help.

I don’t know the name of the mart in ChungKing mansions but if you walk through the main entrance opposite the lights go past the first ‘crossroads’ and it is directly on your right. Not only do they seem to stock 100 percent of what I’ve ever needed and some shit I’d never even heard of they quite often stock lamb and it’s not bad quality either.

Shri will probably tell me it’s shit!!!!

There is a great traditional HK spice shop on Yan Hing Street in Tai Po, it is just down from the Man Mo Temple (near the Railway Museum / old market). They have most spices, I am not sure if they will have garam masala but worth asking. They keep small bags of unusual spice in the fridge at the back. Also nearby, Wooden Horse baking supplies on Tsing Yuen street - they will likely have garam masala just as you enter the shop.

    So many!

TST has maybe most, but also Yaumatei, SSP has some.

You can also always buy online from Regency (free delivery if over HK$100) > https://regencyspices.hk/

Star-Mart has a list of their shops:

There is an indian spice stall in the Wan Chai wet market

Tell the owner what u are cooking and how big a portion, and he'll customise the amount of spices for you

Garam Masala is totally different from the regular Curry Powder, OP isnt after curry powder.
@mihen just go to Jordan - temple street or shanghai street and you will find many Nepalese / Indian supermarkets.

Fusion usually has it, as I get mine from there (Hong Lok Yuen Fusion)!
