Will a Hong Kong TV work in the UK?

    Hi folks,

Probably an easy one I know, but I don't have a clue...

Will a Hong Kong digital TV work in the UK? If it's got a built-in digital tuner, will that pickup freeview back in the UK?

    Thanks,
    chump

According to Wikipedia it's not possible.

You could use a set-top box though (that you buy in the UK) and connect it via one of the AV inputs.

    Ok thanks,

Does anyone know if its possible to buy a TV in Hong Kong with built-in DVB?

Maybe one destined for the UK that may have become lost in a shipping/lorry incident? :-)

If anyone is interested in this, the answer appears to be that you can buy TVs in Hong Kong with built-in DVB, despite the fact that Hong Kong uses the Chinese digital standard instead.

However, I found the same single model of TV everywhere I looked - a 37 inch Phillips model, advertised as made in Europe.

    TVs

A friend of mine bought a TV in HK and I then used it in the UK. However, this was pre-digital, so don't know whether things have changed.
