Oh! Thanks for the picture. The golf ball look alike bottle with gold foil probably needs some design initiative...

geez Skyhook, do you work hard to paint yourself as a pompous ass, or does it just come naturally?
Well, frankly, any publication can call themselves "pre-eminent". It would appear that Crema Magazine can boil down any machine review to about 6 lines of text... I also see that they have no less than three grinders and seven machines 'reviewed'. Very impressive!
Contrary to Crema Magazine, sites like coffeegeek, wholelattelove or, better still, home-barista have long, detailed reviews complemented by very good discussion groups where people like us, who actually use the machines at home, share their experiences.
So I'd still hesitate before buying the Breville based on what's said on coffeegeek and home-barista. They may of course just be reflecting the bad experiences of a few people but it's still enough case for alarm in my view.
Anyway, earlier we were discussing a compromised solution to somebody who wanted to spend a limited amount of money. Lets make that quiet clear. I wasnt recommending the Breville as the be all and end all of coffee machines, but it will produce a better result than the a similarly priced Nespresso, at close to the given budget.
The original OP wasn't going to spend $5500 on a Silvia right. ?
At the end of the day, if somebody wants a Nespresso, they will buy it, regardless of what we say/think, that's a given.
My argument about testing espresso machines, was within a controlled test environment, all machines present, all using the same beans, and fairly compared to one another.
We want to have our own coffee forum discussion, but some of the forum participants just want to post somebody else's validation, not their own. That just seems dumb to me, especially when the person posting the link, doesn't even own espresso gear, nor have they any ambition to fork out cold hard cash to actually buy decent gear.
Do you get what I mean about the 3rd party opinion thing ?

What a change for this topic so much so that I can hear a pin drop… I should have noticed it earlier that it's coming with some sentences like
Unlike earlier posts, the tone and the word choice were not for the fun and passion about coffee any more. It is getting closer to the issue of right, politics of sort, ie “no machine, no comment.” I’m not here to talk about that topic. I still insist that there is more than one way to do thing but I will not go on and on and attract more robust words and tone.
Skyhook, I think you have a strong principal that you should put to work, ie set up the forum or applying for a membership of professional coffee board like coffeed.com. Whatever you do, I hope you’re successful and happy. Also, feel free to discuss with me on other topics in the future.
BTW, thank you very much for the kind word from the person who added to my reputation. Let share more idea and discussion.!

i am going order some Nuova items from Italy, anyone will join me?
Read the post with interest. Was wondering where I can get E61 machines here in HK. The likes of Quick Mill, Isomacs, Expobar, ECm, VBM? Do the agents also service them as well / provide warranty?
Thanks,
detang
There are few choices for E61 in Hong Kong.
Expobar
Isomac & La Mondiale
I ended up importing the 2 I have had. Cheaper and better selection.
Most will give parts only warranty if you import yourself. No good if you aren't tech minded.
I have not seem Quickmill, ECM, Izzo or La Spaziale in Hong Kong
Any importers you can recommend for the Quick Mills? Please PM me.
A newbie but want to make the right choice. Hard to find proper coffee in the Central area and thought making this purchase would be easy in HK. But impossible to find machines - easier to find beans
thanks!
