OK.... I had a filter for my tap in Australia, as the tap water was mostly OK to drink, but had a bad aftertaste. The filter helped. I thought wanting to stop creating more plastic was good enough reason to ask about tap water filters. Thanks for all the Philips endorsements. i'll go and have a look this weekend.

Oh, anything to reduce our dependence on bottled water (one of the stupidest, and probably most environmentally damaging, ideas ideas to come out of the 80s) has got to be a good idea. Ignore our sarcastic digressions on local water quality- they refer back to old arguments on these forums.
