Perhaps there was a profound message hidden in "I was electric kettle".

    I'm a little teapot
    Short and stouts
    Here is my handle
    Here is my spout
When I get all steamed up
    I just shout
Tip me over and pour me out

That absolutely made my day-Thank you Thank you. Though it is a bit disconcerting to my fellow pedestrians when my arms suddenly spring into action and I am walking like an almost Egyptian!

If the OP has not headed for the hills vowing never to return, I would advise a stroll down Gilman St, where there is a tiny store which whoesales all manner of white goods-you cant miss it Its right next door to the Gilmans[the store] and has a large shingle with National Panansonic on it.
Anyway you can buy a single piece and get the wholesale price, so worth the trip.
    Geddit?
