Travel Size deodorant, shower gel, shampoo etc

Hey all, I desperately need some help. Im going to Japan on Saturday for a week, and am planning to take just a rucksack as carry on with the bare essentials in it plus clothes, so I need to get some travel size deodorant (like the Lynx Bullet thing they have in the UK), and travel size shower gel, shampoo and moisturiser if its available. I've checked the usual supsects, Mannings and Watsons, but they didn't have any.....where else should i check?

    cheers

You can always just buy it when you arrive. If you stay in a decent hotel they will supply shampoo and often conditioner and shower gel too. I buy mine in Manila (I know, not helpful to you!) because I find HK supermarkets/chemists to be so poorly stocked!

Have you tried Sasa? They often sell sample sized items, albeit usually the more expensive brands.

Otherwise, one thing you can most definitely buy in Sasa is empty plastic bottles and suchlike. You can decant what you need from home into these.

And don't forget that there's a brilliant Muji at HK airport that stocks travel sizes of just about everything. The only problem with the airport Muji is that it's opening hours are more limited. I think they run 8am to 6pm or something silly like that - definitely not open as early or late as the other airport shops.

I find that decanting is fine for most things - and concur with Katie that the Muji at the airport is very good - but really, really, struggle with deodorant! I buy mini deodorant whereever I find it because it is so rare.... Mind you, normal size should fit in the plastic bag provided you don't have too much else!

No dearth of deodorant in Japan. You can't get Lynx Bullets here as far as I know, but my brother was complaining about them last night. Someone brought him one back from the UK and he said he only got about 4-5 uses out of it before it ran out, so he thought it was a bit of a ripoff.

Yeah, I bought one of those tiny Lynx sprays in Gibraltar in the summer and I was pretty shocked by how quickly it ran out - not quite 4-5 sprays, but not all that much more than 15-20 or so. Not sure it's really a rip-off, but they could probably do a better job at pointing out that it's really for 'emergencies' and won't last long if you use it for regular hygiene.
