    iDTV in HK

When buying a new TV in HK, is iDTV required? In North American, we use a box set from the cable or satellite company but in HK, is this an option or do I have to use iDTV?

    Thanks,
    Peter

As I usderstand the question, it is whether you need an integrated digital tuner in your TV. The answer is no, you don't need one, but if you get a TV with one (which is capable of decoding the Chinese standard for digital TV) then you will be able to watch the free-to-air broadcasts of TVB and ATV without a separate set-top box. But if you want to watch NOW Broadband TV you will need a separate box for that (and you can get versions which also include the digital tuner for broadcast TV, thus eliminating the need for a tuner built into your TV), and if you want CableTV you'll need a separate set-top box for that.
