You have to produce to a conviction record for each country you have lived in. Hong Kong certificate would only be valid for your time in Hong Kong.

often third party companies can used used to make their own searches of court records. I had to get police checks from the UK, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong. Singapore claims to only do searches for their own citizens but relents and you have to ask for an exemption (and you receive the certificate). For HK the letter has to be sent out by the immigration department or police station doing the fingerprints and the reply goes straight back to the immigration department.

One possible way around in your case could be by signing a statutory declaration or potentially offering to pay for a 3rd company to do a search on behalf of your new employer.

Claire where was your quote from? I'm wondering whether it would apply for non-hk schools.

    Thanks Kironx.
i tried that but the HK police said if it's requested by the the UK consulate it's only relevant for jobs in the UK.
