Edinburgh is absolutely beautiful and I would 100% choose it over Glasgow, and it also seems like a better fit for you personally
Everything I know about Glasgow I learned from watching the crime show Taggart. Show even killed the lead actor, doesn't give you warm feelings about Glasgow...
I worked in Glasgow for six years. It was fine. Better than expected really. I remember going up for an interview and arriving about ten in the evening. That was a bit scary but otherwise it was fine. If you stay in the 'civilised' areas, avoid wearing team colours then it's quite a nice little city. A bit of everything and far less tourist traffic than Edinburgh.
They do say, that you have more fun at a Glasgow funeral than you do at an Edinburgh wedding.
Visited Glasgow for the first time a month ago. I was pleasantly surprised. Some fantastic buildings, architecture, nice eating places and a few good museums as well. I actually intend going back soon to explore more fully.Original Post Deleted
