Everytime when we login our Hong Kong bank account here in California, the bank will ask for identity verification of our Hong Kong bank account's Hong Kong mobile number. The bank will send SMS text message to our Hong Kong mobile number. We need to answer in text back to confirm. It has been our biggest hassle.

No, Skype cannot do this. It blocks incoming text sms message from unknow sender. Even we told them our bank is sending sms text message. No use.

Just received a kind feedback on Skype receiving incoming SMS from unknown sender :

    https://support.skype.com/en/faq/fa3...calls-in-skype

If we read this correctly, Skype will block incoming SMS from unknown sender. But leave a missed call notice.

long term (few years) Hong Kong mobile phone number for SMS (Voice & SMS only, no data) use in California, choices:
CMHK - prepaid voice SIM card $36/30 days, recharge $200 for 1 year
HKCSL - travel prepaid $98, recharge $100 for 1 year
    Smart tone - 全年多用咭 $118 / year, $58 reset 1 year

Are we correct? Need to confirm usage in California. Thank you for your advice.

Buy all 3 and try them for a year, then give us a report back. Thank you for your feedback.

qhank, are you talking about CMHK charges $2 every 30 days, that is $24 for 1 years. Please tell us know where you find this?

According to this voice SIM lowest price method :
    https://eshop.hk.chinamobile.com/en/...&category=1031
under refill methods: recharge amount $200 for 365 days.

emx, which of three SIM most likely will connect SMS in North America?

You are right. You have to refill at least $200 each year. However, that money stays as credit in your account so if you ever come back to HK, you could use it again.

Well, since Hong Kong started real name SIM registration this year, we are unable to borrow any Hong Kong SIM to verify if we can receive unknow sender SMS here in California. Any idea?

Buy a few and register them in your name, then try them when you return to the US.
