I was looking at the Sarawak second home scheme. Seems to be separate and much more like the original. If we need a Plan B from HK.

Yes, the Sarawak MM2H has suddenly become more attractive due to the changes in the Federal MM2H program. Although Sarawak is a state within Malaysia it has autonomy about immigration. And thus is it able to have a separate MM2H program, with different requirements than those of the Federal MM2H program. Once you have the Sarawak MM2H visa you are allowed to reside anywhere you want in Malaysia. However, the fear exists that Malaysia will somehow find a loophole such that in the future people with the Sarawak MM2H can only reside in Sarawak. We'll have to wait and see.

The Sarawak MM2H has received good PR and I understand quite a few people have signed up. The hurdle seems to be that one had to physically go to Sarawak in order to get the visa formalised and the appropriate stamp in the passport.

With the new Government just sworn in we can expect MM2H to come under review once again; so who knows the final outcome. The Sultan of Johor has been kicking up a stink that the latest revamp is totally impractical and negative. But in honesty I think MM2H is way down the list of the Government's list of priorities!

There is enough noise and pressure building up not just from Sultan but other MPs and business sectors as well so i think re-revision of MM2H would happen soon and new final details with concession should come in this month before new scheme officially starts in Oct..

Does anyone on here have experience (second hand will also do) of what it's like to live in Sarawak as an expat with primary school children?

I'm an expat and I live like the local in HK, so my guess is pretty much like how the locals will live with primary school children there. That means in wooden long houses and study in a hut school which can only be reach with a 2km hike through the ravine.

Sarawak is huge, almost the size of West Malaysia. There are jungle tribes that live in the jungle and there are also city folks who live in the city. Coastal cities are mostly affiliated with oil rig activities. Google can tell you the rest about the cities. THe smaller cities means less competition and they are more relaxed in their lifestyle (retirement towns) and thus easy going education as well. Only place with "good education" are big cities where people are willing to pay and thus school can afford better teachers and facility, i.e. HK, Bangkok, KL, Singapore etc. But who am I to say, i grew up in a village town of 3,000 and ended up in HK

Saw this yesterday and didnt find it worth putting here, sheer arrogance and delusions in his answers made me loose whatever faint hope i had for revision.. Im almost done with this, not a reliable place for long term unless they correct their mistakes soon enough, anyway enough damage is already done by repeatedly calling existing retirees are not quality enough, national secutiry threat and all other delusional talks from rear-side..
