If anyone has info on where I can get my subsidised cooking oil and petrol, plse post here. None of us here have heard about it.
His boss got spanked by the Sultan. Probably he's upset that the Sultan didn't bother contacting himself.

Sale prices for items such as cooking oil, chicken, and gasoline are controlled by the government. I believe the government then hands back money to the middle men involved in this business. That's what he calls "subsidised".

There is a 2.50 1kg plastic bag oil sold in sundry shop that we don't normally consume cos it just looks disgusting. But you can't argue that it benefits didn't trickle down, such as cheaper KFC sold by the road side. Petrol has always been subsidized by the govt. Hence the low cost of living.

I watched the video and only noticed he was upset most likely he got shit on by his rich friends whose friends were applying. I checked Dept of stat data and inflation in the past 20 years compound to around 50%

Anyway I think it's a game for them to force subjective approval into their hands so that they can get some grease. Shri do keep the business running because that might be an option since he said they welcome business Visa

One day after this video was uploaded has the responsible minister announced that there are (again) changes to the requirements for existing MM2H holders who wish to renew their visa. Out of the original ten requirements are now only two remaining:
    https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/ca...-mm2h-holders/
Note that if indeed only two requirements remain it would imply that there is no monthly income requirement, nor a fixed deposit requirement. It sounds a bit strange to me that those requirements would now completely vanish for renewing an MM2H visa.

However, none of this information is yet available on the website of the immigration department. I guess they can't keep up with the almost daily changes to the program.

In case anyone is still interested:

According to this news article, based on the responsible minister's reply in parliament, have 267 people applied for MM2H since the introduction of the new requirements:
    https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/ca...m2h-programme/
The article does not specify how many of those applications have been approved.
About 5.5 times as many people (1461) have left MM2H during the same time period.

First tangible statement in a while .. but no real details.

The government will set the requirements for the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme into three categories, says the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

Its minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing (pic) said each of the three categories - Platinum, Gold, and Silver - will demand a different amount of the permanent applicants’ savings.

"We will review the eligibility requirements to make them flexible and anyone can apply.

"To provide the foreigner a choice, I recommended three categories: Platinum, Gold, and Silver," he said after launching the Malaysia Budget and Business Hotel Association (MyBHA) 23rd anniversary dinner on Thursday (June 22).

There are two ting to be wary about when reading this article:
    (1) A few years ago, during the MM2H turbulence, was the entire program transferred from the Tourism ministry to the Interior ministry. Therefore it is less relevant what the Tourism minister has to say about it.
    (2) Elections are looming. A lot of things are being uttered. Not for the benefit of the foreigners, but to sway the Malaysian voters.
