Notarizing MPF FORM MPF(S) - W(SD2) in Canada

    Hi all,

I left Hong Kong in Feb of this year. Unfortunately my dumbass did not know that I had to get the FORM MPF(S) - W(SD2) : https://www.mpfa.org.hk/en/-/media/f..._to_iv_4_e.pdf notarised from HK before I left.

According to this website; its possible to get this done from outside HK as long as you get the declaration notarised: https://www.notary-parramatta.com.au...ent-departure/

However the problem is that the form has a line for the Notary saying that they have witnessed the signature in Hong Kong. Please see attached image.

Any help in this regard would be really appreciated

P.S I also didn't know about the tax release form requirement and had left without clearning my tax , but got that sorted out eventually - so I have the tax release form with me now.

Oops, looks like my attachment didn't get uploaded. But the line I am referring to in the Notary section is this:

"Declared at ______________________________, Hong Kong this ______ day of ________.Before me,"

Does this implies that only a Notary in HK can attest the form?

MPFA says it can be signed outside of HK.

Just retype and out your current location I guess.

I was thinking to do the same, but it seems complicated to do it from outside HK.

I was in HK for a week a couple of months ago and applied to withdraw my MPF (left HK in Jan 2020 but never bothered to do it). Did all the reading out loud declaration in the local government office. etc. Not so difficult, mailed it all off to AIA and then flew out of HK.

A few months have passed now and no money in my bank account, gave AIA a call last week, they said my application was rejected and they sent me the paper rejection letter. Probably sitting in a pile of junk mail in my HK office. They offered to email me a copy of the letter. Found out was rejected for the dumbest of reasons. I wrote on the form I left HK in 2020, new residence is Australia, included my Australian passport copy which happens to be my latest passport valid from October 2022. So it was rejected on the basis I didnt show evidence I was allowed to reside in Aus at the time of my departure from HK (Jan 2020).

Ah crap. Typical HK style "cannot". Even I am Australian moving back to Aus they found the reason to make things difficult. Anyway I sent them now a copy of my old expired Aus passport which was valid at time of departure in 2020. Hope they can resume my application and I dont have to start this shit again.

Hopefully your mpf is diversified and not banked into 2800.

Seems MPF withdrawal after leaving HK is pain in the ass, many points of failure including broken fax machine, better to do it before leaving (Note to self)..
