Nearly 1,900 teachers from Hong Kong have applied to work in England under an initiative to source overseas educators, with about 800 candidates from the city already approved.

But one of those chosen said candidates from Hong Kong faced a pay cut of more than 50 per cent.

I watched a video on YouTube from an overseas teacher who went to work in the UK, I believe he worked many places including the middle east. It's a three part series about how miserable he was, how awful the children were, how the administration doesn't back up the teachers and how the central education bureau (forget the name) has all kinds of silly standards and rules so that even the best and most determined teachers cannot do a decent job. Sounded about as bad as things are in the US. Sounded like he was working in a deprived area of London.

HK teachers will not know what hit them...these classrooms are like a 3-ring circus. Any inner city in UK or the US. They are not likely to be getting the jobs in posh private schools.

There is a REASON why the UK is approving these schemes, no one wants to work in these classrooms.
