Going back to USA after many years, what to expect at Customs?

    Hi
I going back to USA after many years in HK.
I don't think I have any stamps on my US passport. Would this look wierd to Customs and cause me problems?
Its because I always use my HK id instead.
Would Trump being in office and my Chinese ancestry cause any problem for me?

    Thanks!

p.s. I am both excited and terrified at the thought of going back to USA due to current state of the country.

As a citizen you have fewer issues to worry about than tourists.

Go enjoy and spend some money in the local economy...

Odd statement: "I don't think I have any stamps on my US passport".... "think?!?!?". How do you get in and out of other countries without your passport being stamped? Anyways... open your passport and check.

I haven't been any where except HK and China. So I don't need to use my US passport.

Actually a few do not stamp passports upon entry or exit anymore. Singapore, (we here in HK), China if you use the PR card thingie, Australia, Macau and some far away ones like Jamaica, Argentina, Israel...

Fair enough ... so you know, you don't "think". I thought that was an odd statement.

Anyways .. don't stress too much and enjoy your trip back.

I am digressing from the OPs question... apologies.

My concern was more to the point of "think I don't have" vs "I don't have". May be I am more aware of what gets stamped / does not...

I when to US back in Nov by myself, an asian male, no issues!

I can't say I get in easy every single time. I had time where they would ask me, so why are you in Asia for so long etc.

    Be ready to response!!!

Not the same USA as in November going by comments I have seen. Probably a tiny minority though.

If your a US citizen, no problem. If your Australian, dont fly CX to America. The Americans don't like that, wont let you enter, even if you can show you are entering America to take a US$15k cruise departing from Miami, still cannot enter because you came via Hong Kong.

Ok. I definitely need to think about it and be prepared to response correctly.

Would US Customs go so far as to ask me about my views on politics?

I also don't know if I should bring my phone or laptop with me. Would they want to search my phone/ laptop?
