to the people who dont have kayaks: you can rent kayaks in Sai Kung by the old beach hotel. Sh a Ha beach i thinks, they also have windsurfers there for hire. they charge by the hour i thinks.

    Hi thisdress,

Did 7-hrs in three days on a kayak off the coast of Sihanoukville (Cambodia), and it was great fun. Want to go in Hong Kong and make it a once or twice monthly weekend activity.

Don't own any gear and since I live in Discovery Bay, lugging a kayak around might be difficult. You mentioned you have one here. Do you keep it at the Marina Club? I have looked at purchase or rental myself and still working out options.

Going on a hike this Sunday so won't be able to go Kayaking, but am definitely interested for future outings on kayaks.

Appreciate if you could PM me with regards to the kayak.

    Cheers,

    shakermaker

    Hello Shakermaker,

My kayak and gears are all in Sai Kung right now. You can register with the Lantau Boat Club and pay a HKD500 annual fee to keep a kayak there.

Squid and I walked/climbed over to Sam Pak Wan to check out the possibility to park a kayak there, I guess it's doable, but it's not exactly a nice walk (nor a nice beach, for that matter.) It's just that I live in Siena Two so I'm very close to Sam Pak.

I'm water-logged all the time; don't worry if you can't make it this week. If you are thinking of getting your own kayak and you live in DB, I dare say we will have plenty of chance to explore together. (Or to make short trips to Peng Chau for lunch and a few games of badminton)

    Cheers,

I'm also in for sometime in July. I LOVE kayaking (both, sea and river) and am moving to Hong Kong early July.

IMO weather right now is perfect for paddling. By July, it gets too hot, sunburn, sunscreen-in-eyes, and heat-exhaustion are all very annoying.

I've been in the water a lot lately, doing some very basic drills like reentry, swimming in canoe, rolling, deep-water reentry etc. Didn't even bother to wear my wet suit. The water is definitely warm enough. Just bring a good wind breaker or dry clothes for lunch break and you're good to go.

    Hey guys,

I'm very interested! This is an old thread so not sure if you guys are still doing some of this stuff. I'm moving to HK..most likely at the end of Sept...am just looking for activities to do and people to meet!

    Thanks...

If you guys are still doing it...please throw me an email...

Haha, as predicted, the weather is too hot to paddle now. I got a major sunburn paddling today, despite SPF60. I think I'll stick to late evening/ night time paddling from now.
