visiting HK, looking for indoor climbing partner

    Hi,

I've been in Dongguan, China for work since mid Aug. I really miss climbing and found that HK have some indoor rock gym. I'm planning to visit HK this weekend and would like to do some climbing (top rope). Would anyone be interested in being my top rope belay partner? I've been climbing for 8 months in the US, only once outdoor. I've been climbing 5.9's.

    Daniel

Most of the climbing walls in HK are either public (government-run) or private (two YMCA walls), and require some kind of certification to book or use. So it's unlikely that you could use these walls on a walk-in basis.

I think your best bet if you're just in town for the weekend is to check out the bouldering gyms (listed here: Hong Kong Climbing).

Of these, Da Verm in Sheung Wan has both top-rope and bouldering, so it would be a good choice. You can find them on Facebook: Da Verm Climbing Club | Facebook. The gym is newly opened and pretty popular, so I think you'll be able to find a belayer there.
