    Chinese Swimmer Accused of Doping

BBC News - Chinese Olympic swimmer Ye Shiwen denies doping

I think this accusation is an outrage...There are people officially responsible for testing for doping... Allegations from anyone else, in the absence of any hard evidence, are both uncharitable and inappropriate. I know China generally gets a bad rep for not following the rules...but this seems a bit too much...it is downright rude!

OP, Did you actually see or read what happened? She swam 5 SECONDS faster than her personal best and actually slowed at one point, suggesting that she realised her performance was slightly suspicious.

    OMG What are you saying?

China trained her. Therefore she cannot be a cheat.

She is just AMAZING, like all of China, as they are the superior race.

It is just now that the rest of the Western yolk scum of the evil empire is understanding this.

All Chinese are this fast at swimming. In fact this swimmer was China's slowest swimmer.

I have to confess I did not watch the actual swim...nor do I know much about swimming times.
I was just reacting to the response to the performance being "You cheated!" rather than "Good job!"
It may well be that I will be eating my post after evidence of doping surfaces... but surely the slandering and mud-slinging can wait until the test results are in?

I think there are legitimate grounds for suspicions, especially given the past history of Chinese swimmers and dope. But at the same time, it is easy to make accusations without evidence. Let's see if the accusers can bring evidence to back up their claims. Innocent until proven guilty. Guilt by association (in this case past history of doping by her predecessors) is not a valid method to show guilt. The burden is on the accuser to prove it.

And if I am the devil's advocate, the accuser's motive aren't as pure as we might think. This could be a strategy to pyschologically attack Ye by rival team's coaches so that she stand less chance of winning in the upcoming 200m race.

Any chants of "you cheated" should have waited until results come back. A coach accusing someone else of doping just because they whipped their swimmer is just bad taste. They will be left to bite their own dust when she is in the clear and IOC slap a ban on that coach. Sore-loser in my estimation.

So when Thorpedo did it (up his best time by 5 seconds) did we have the same reaction?

Professional sports is all about who dopes best and who knows how to get away with it. The Chinese just employed those with more expertise.
