An interesting article that highlighted some of the differences between Chinese athletes and athletes in some other countries. Some of those differences appear to be attributable to a chinese desire for sucess (and are probably replicated in the space programme, the high speed rail programme and anything else that China is doing to show that it is "world class"); some appear to be due to poverty - if these guys fail, it matters more.
Is it valid to debate this here? Well, we are sitting next door to China; China will run this place in a few years time, so why not?
I find the "anti-China" rants just as annoying as the "China is great" rants. Stimulating and well argued discussion, however, is great. How about some of that? (for a change)
