Cut to the News - 7's final

Anyone else find it frustrating that the 7's final on TV was cut away from for the news. 3 mins left to play...

    In today's SCMP.

"Organisers explained that because of injuries and other time lapses, TVB's live coverage overran its limit and they had to cut off from their live feed to go to the news".

Bit of a fcuking weak excuse when you have a live tournament on. Of course you are going to get injuries and other time delays. Its LIVE ffs. They should have known this in advance, esp cutting the FINAL.

    fcuking muppets.

Bet all of you now wish there is another local free-to-air tv network in town don't ya? Well, this is what happen when we get only two tv stations in town (actually it's more of a one channel TVB monopoly, since hardly anyone watches ATV anyway). There is no choice, so TVB can screw the viewer however they like.

The editorial team dealing with the news could have anticipated this and lead with the Sevens coverage as the headline story. "We'll let you watch the 3 minutes you missed, before we start our ritual prayers to our mainland overlords.".

"Fine" in the sense that what I was enjoying on a 46" screen would now be on a 4" screen?

actually I thought having a free to air channel provide wall to wall, three day coverage of a minority sporting event was actually quite a big deal. and well done to tvb for doing that. couldn't see bbc or itv in UK doing the same, even if it was in non-prime time.

Yes the news cut was a cock up, a bit like when ITv in Uk cut to adverts prematurely in a Liverpol vs Everton cup final and missed the winning goal
