    Dragon Boat team - beginner?

How does one go about finding a dragon boat team for beginner?

Not looking for anything super serious or competitive, but something like once a week training and taking part at the Dragon Boat Festival in June.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You either go for a corporate team (ie Law Firm have plenty, Banks and corporate too -- so you know some gyus who paddle and you ask them) or you go ask the "clubs" like: • Island Paddling Club (IPC): http://www.hkipc.com/ • The Navy: http://www.navy.li/ • Seagods: http://www.seagods.hk/ • Royal X: http://www.rhkyc.org.hk/Dragonboating.aspx • Fair Dinkum: http://fairdinkumclub.com/ etc etc Some are men only team, some are mixed teams… That's for the expat side of the game. Plenty of local teams (super good) but less accessible (South Eagles...)

There was a dragonboating meetup but I think it folded due to spotty turnout. I signed up for a couple of tries, but both got cancelled. Apparently it's really hard to get something like this started, so joining an established boat is the way to go.

It is easy to get started to be honest if you have a budget (I rekon you need at least 25K to get stated properly with only one boat and only one race - ie stanley)The most obvious place being to ask the Stanley Resident Association.I started a team back in 2008 and it wasnt really hard (we had the budget). The issue is getting committed people.

InterNations team is great! I joined this year and it's awesome fun. Train once a week on a Sunday and have regular socials. Not sure if they're still taking on new people but it's worth asking!

Thanks, I think they are already full. Boo. I think I may have left it a bit late.
